General Information on GoaGoa is a tiny emerald land on the west coast of India. Goa is situated towards the southern end of Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra. It was liberated from Portuguese colonial rule on December 19, 1961. Goa state has representation in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha at Delhi and has a Legislative Assembly of 40 members.
Transport and Communication Air: Goa is connected by flights to Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Delhi and Cochin. Recently, some International flights to Gulf countries have been introduced. International charter flights land in Goa from different countries like UK, Germany, Russia, Finland, Sweden and Norway. Rail: Goa is connected by Konkan Railway to Mumbai, Mangalore - Kerala. The existing Vasco-Miraj has been converted into broad guage which has facilitated direct rail journey from Goa to New Delhi. Goa is connected through South Central Railway to Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, etc. Road: Goa is connected by road to all the major towns in India. But services are available to Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Mangalore, Kolhapur and Hyderabad. National Highways NH4A, NH 17 pass through Goa.
