Industries which will be given special preference or overriding priorities in matters of clearances, registrations, allotment of plots, etc. are: Pharmaceuticals, Information Technology, agro-based, food, fisheries, processing, tourism, electronics, bio-technology, light engineering goods, wood carving, automotive parts, gems and jewellery, diamond cutting, garments, etc.

Besides, it has one of the highest per capita income ratios in the country, one of the highest literacy rates, the highest road network density, the lowest crime rates, and generally trade unions and managements share harmonious industrial relations. All these factors are conducive towards a 'healthy' industrial climate.
